Dynamic Axle Weighing System at Gyueshevo Border Checkpoint – Bulgarian Customs Agency
As part of the projects successfully implemented for the Bulgarian Customs Agency, a state-of-the-art dynamic axle weighing system has been deployed at the Gyueshevo Border Checkpoint. The solution is designed for the automatic weighing of vehicles while in motion, eliminating the need for vehicles to stop and ensuring fast, reliable, and highly accurate monitoring of freight traffic.
The system measures axle loads and the gross vehicle weight of passing vehicles at speeds of up to 8 km/h, significantly improving the efficiency of inspection procedures while reducing the processing time for freight vehicles crossing the border.
The weighing system has been developed and certified in accordance with OIML R134, the international standard for Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) systems used for automatic vehicle mass measurement. Compliance with this standard guarantees a high level of measurement accuracy, reliability, and traceability.
The data generated by the system provides objective information on:
- the axle load of each individual axle;
- the gross vehicle weight;
- identification of potentially overloaded vehicles;
- generation of reliable evidence to support enforcement and inspection activities.
The implemented solution enables the Bulgarian Customs Agency to perform more efficient monitoring of commercial freight transport and to ensure compliance with legal requirements regarding maximum permissible vehicle loads. The measurement results provide a reliable basis for administrative procedures and enforcement actions in cases involving overloaded vehicles.

Custom Railway Scale for “Baldzhievi 91” OOD
ESPA SYSTEMS EOOD successfully completed an innovative project for “Baldzhievi 91” OOD, including the design, production and implementation of a railway scale according to the client’s individual requirements.
The solution is a custom railway scale with a specially designed pit /receiving hopper/, into which the transported material — in this specific case, grain — is unloaded directly. The system is designed to work with bottom-discharge hopper wagons, allowing fast and efficient feeding of the material directly into the receiving volume.
The system enables simultaneous weighing and controlled product intake, while integrated chain conveyors ensure smooth and gentle transportation to the silo facilities.
